Are You Thinking About Leaving Your Job?
It is comforting to have a regular paycheck and a familiar job. However, more and more professionals are contemplating looking for or actively seeking a new job. According to new Gallup data, that is about 55% of the workforce.
The survey also said the number of workers who are extremely satisfied with their current position is decreasing, from 20% to 18%.
What’s going on with your career and your level of satisfaction?
We are witnessing unprecedented shifting, restructuring, and disruption as companies struggle to stay profitable and efficiency drives business decisions. The impact is felt by managers and employees and manifested by higher rates of employee burnout and lower productivity.
From time to time, pausing to review your career situation and hypothesizing about your next career move works well, especially if you speak out loud about possibilities. Hint: You should talk with a Certified Career Transition Coach, feel free to contact me.
Career-focused professionals who find themselves at a career crossroads recognize their options are to exit or elevate their positions.
My research into the future of work consistently revealed that these nagging thoughts plague many professionals, which led me to create a workshop, “Recalibrate Your Career and Thrive.”
This workshop provides a structured approach for participants to clarify their passion and career intentions, validate expertise, align attributes and core values, and enhance presentation skills to be distinctive in a competitive job market.
This phenomenon is universal. A report across 16 countries by Manpower Group, part of the Global Talent Barometer, found that after interviewing 12,000 workers, 80% found their work meaningful, while 35% considered changing jobs in the next few months.
Some of the cited reasons for their departure are dissatisfaction with employment conditions, the stress of constant pressure to perform and do more–with less help and resources, and the deteriorating effect on mental health and work-life balance.
Before hastily dashing off a well-crafted resignation letter, reflect on what you want and expect personally.
Few people delve deeply into their wants, needs, capabilities, core values, strengths, attributes, and personal brand—how they are perceived or known.
My many years as a Career Coach have taught me that without clarifying personal beliefs and motivations, inevitable stumbles can occur on the path to personal fulfillment. Therefore, my proprietary framework is incorporated into the workshop to address these unconscious pitfalls.
If you plan to promote and market your expertise and value, package your authentic self first to ensure your presence is perceived correctly.
Being blinded by the aura of salary and benefits, can diminish the importance of a holistic perspective of work, lifestyle, and balance causing issues being overlooked and necessitating a revisit of the scenario.
How and where work is done is being shaped by the rapid shifting of the economy, changing business landscapes, politics, and the constant integration of new technologies into our personal and professional lives, which creates increased uncertainty.
No matter the direction of career plans, including aspects of individual resilience and adaptability is prudent because much of the restructuring will not be self-induced as companies struggle to stay competitive and refocus required skill sets.
Career-focused professionals must constantly recalibrate their career plans to adjust to changing workplace demands and conditions. Don’t get caught flat-footed.
Always keep your resume updated and start any strategy by exploring yourself first.
